Tyrol's climbing stars shine at the Paraclimbing World Cup in Innsbruck!

Innsbruck, Österreich - The Tyrolean climbing stars impressively demonstrated their skills at the IFSC Paraclimbing World Cup in Innsbruck. The exciting event will take place from June 23 to 29, and the first day of the competition attracted 210 athletes for the Paraclimbing qualification in the climbing hall. Leading personalities from the Tyrolean climbing scene were able to fight for excellent placements.

Angelino Zeller (AL1) from Tyrol stood out among the participants, who led the qualification ranking and was very satisfied with his performance after the competition. Markus Pösendorfer (AL1) also qualified for the final with a second place and was positive about the progress in his competition class. Jasmin Plank (RP2) shone with the women and secured first place in qualification after a break. Linda Le Bon (B3) from Vienna followed her in second place and also made the leap into the final.

Tyrolean climbing talents on the big stage

The joy was great when it became known that a total of five Austrian athletes could reach the final. Unfortunately, EDITH Scheinecker (B3) remained fifth with a good but not sufficiently placed fifth place. Daniel Wiener (RP2) and Daniel Schlegl (RP1) could not qualify for the final rounds. The remarkable participation and the high training services show that the climbing scene in Austria has developed enormously and that climbing gains popularity for people with disabilities. The Alpine Club emphasizes the growing demand for paraclimbing, not only at competition level, but also in mass sports.

What exactly is paraclimbing? This form of climbing is aimed at people with disabilities and is divided into different classes: "B" for blind athletes, "al" for athletes with leg amputation, "Au" for armampute and "RP" for people with neurological impairments. Sebastian Depke explains that it is important to ensure an objective comparability of the services. Angelino Zeller is a prime example of this class, because it has already celebrated success in Innsbruck, but also in international competitions such as the World Championships in Bern 2023.

The event in Innsbruck is not only a sporty highlight, but also a sign of more inclusion in sport. The athletes prove that disability is not an obstacle, but an additional challenge that can be mastered with passion and training. Climbing sports are therefore becoming increasingly important and ensures that even more people can discover the fascination.
