Shaping life dreams: Wattens and Inzing rely on citizens' ideas!

In the communities of Inzing and Wattens, it is currently blooming, and not only thanks to the spring -like weather. An exciting participation project, initiated by the regional management Innsbruck-Land, causes citizens to share their visions and wishes for the further development of their habitats. The aim of the “Shaping life dreams” project is to find places that offer potential to revitalize and upgrade. So what moves people here?

Here Wattener: Inside and Inzinger: Inside your personal “life (t) room” can take pictures, which encourages the community to actively contribute. The submitted images show different perspectives on places and buildings - a real treasure of creative perspectives!

design as a joint project

The material collected is presented in an exhibition about Pergolas at church square in Inzing and Wattens. These were designed and built by students from the University of Innsbruck and are therefore not only functional, but also an architectural highlight. The highlights of the project took place on June 11th and 12th, on which the winners: inside the photo competition were chosen. Professional inputs for local development came from Judith Prossliner, who further developed the award -winning ideas in a subsequent workshop. Miriam Rost from Regional Management Innsbruck-Land praises the creative potential and commitment of the communities and thus puts the community into the focus of the event.

However, the project would not have been possible without the numerous sponsors and partners. Names like Raiffeisen Regionalbank Schwaz-Wattens Egen, Wattens and Hollu Systemhygiene GmbH workshop show how important the support of the economy for local projects is. In addition, the mayors Lukas Schmied (Wattens) and Josef Walch (Inzing) speak a big thank you to all participating citizens: inside who made a valuable contribution through their ideas and their commitment. This could be seen as an example of civic engagement, as described in the bpb.

In rural areas such as this, committed citizens can move a lot inside. Several volunteers often meet to create events or put ideas into practice. The project not only demonstrates the positive sides of the engagement, but also shows the diverse possibilities of participation in the community. The citizens: inside are challenged and at the same time required, rooted in their own neighborhood, which triggers a strong feeling of cohesion.

Inzing and Wattens prove that the design of habitats is a project for the entire communities. With community commitment and creative approaches, the places can not only be revived, but also further developed. These movements are essential for the future of rural spaces, which become a livable home for everyone through active participation and networking.
