Spading for modern estate: agricultural training retired!
In Imst, the foundation is laid for a modernized future of agriculture. Today the groundbreaking for the new building at the "Gutshof" of the LLA IMST took place, a significant step to improve agricultural training in the region. The manor, about three kilometers from the school buildings of the LLA Imst, acts as a practical place for around 400 students: inside, which can acquire valuable knowledge of cattle, field and agriculture here. This project was initiated by Bauernzeitung to meet the requirements of modern agriculture.
Why the new building is necessary? The old “pigsty” from 1952 no longer met the current standards in terms of animal welfare, training and hygiene. Therefore, it is replaced by a contemporary economic and test building. Director Thomas Moritz emphasized the importance of this change towards greater processing and finishing of products.
new building with foresight
The planned new building not only offers space for a modern pig fattening, but also for the storage of vegetables and the implementation of agricultural experiments. The equipment will be comprehensive: modern theoretical rooms, lounge areas and hygiene facilities are part of the concept. This creates an apprenticeship that enables the student: inside and practical training. This is also emphasized by Tirol's agricultural officer LHStV Josef Geisler, who was present at the opening.
With a total budget of up to 6.5 million euros, provided by the state of Tyrol, all aspects of the construction, planning and additional costs are covered. Another positive aspect is the sustainable management of the manor according to the organic farming guidelines: cattle, sheep and useful poultry are kept here and the food is used via a farm shop or directly in the school homes, such as tyrol.gv.at reported.
a step into the future
The new building will also offer a modern agricultural test system that meets the latest requirements for animal welfare and animal -friendly battles. The barrier -free work environment, modern sanitary facilities and functional rooms are just a few of the many advantages. The planned district heating technology and a photovoltaic system to use regenerative energy illustrate the sustainable approach of this project. The entire area is used without additional soil consumption, which takes important ecological aspects in agriculture.
Until the completion of the new building, which is planned for autumn 2026, the manor will remain a center of modern agricultural training in Tyrol. The focus is not only on education, but also on the important interface between theory and practice in agriculture, which is supported by the initiative of Bio Austria This ensures that the next generations of farmers are well prepared for the challenges of the future.
