Fürstenfeld's energy transition: The largest battery memory ensures exemplary character!
In an exciting initiative, the energy officers of the member cities of the Austrian City Association today visited Austria's largest battery storage in Fürstenfeld. Mayor Franz Jost has set himself ambitious goals: Fürstenfeld should become a flagship city in terms of sustainability and quality of life. The focus is primarily on innovative eco -projects that have been implemented in recent years. These include photovoltaic systems, local heating and an energy -efficient infrastructure.
The municipal utility director Franz Friedl emphasizes that the investments made make pricing for customers in the long term. In addition, the supply remains in public sector, which ensures additional security. Fürstenfeld has already decided on a comprehensive energy monaster plan and an investment program to achieve climate neutrality by 2030. And with success: Austria's largest battery electricity storage system, which was put into operation at the end of December 2024, has a storage capacity of 24,000 kWh. This allows electricity to be saved daily for around 3,000 households. In addition, large-scale photovoltaic systems and the largest pellet wood carburetic work in Austria were installed.
