Chaos on the Munich federal road: accident causes mega traffic jam!

On July 1, 2025, there was a significant traffic accident with several vehicles involved on the Munich federal road in Salzburg. According to Salzburg24 confirmed the situation, however the Red Cross was not alerted. The accident site is currently ensuring an extensive traffic jam in both directions, which has an impact in the direction of Salzburg from Freilassing.

The damage situation pulls wide circles. There is a dense volume of traffic on the affected streets. The Munich federal road as well as Ignaz-Harrer-Straße and Saint-Julien-Straße are particularly affected. In addition, the effects can also be felt on the Archabt-Klotz-Straße in Nonntal, Petersbrunnstraße, Hellbrunner Straße, the Rudolfskai and on many other important traffic axes that are essential for the city of Salzburg.

tightened traffic situation

Due to the accident, the locomotives of the local railway between Achaharting and Bergheim also have to deal with impairments. Due to technical disorders there are failures here and a replacement of rails has been set up. Lamprechtshausener Straße (B156) also shows slow traffic towards the city center from Achaharting, which also exacerbates the situation.

The incident is a prime example of the challenges of road traffic, and such accidents are also not uncommon in neighboring cities like Munich. In the Bavarian capital, the high traffic on the Munich ring, which is surrounded by several motorways, regularly reports traffic jams and traffic disruptions, such as tag24 . There are accidents with cars, trucks, motorcycles and even e-scooters.

statistical insights

A look at the numbers shows that traffic accidents are a big issue. The publication "Traffic in Numbers" (VIZ) of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure Documented that traffic volume increases from year to year. These statistical surveys offer extensive information about mobility in Germany and provide important insights into accidents and their causes.

The situation on the Munich federal road is an urgent reminder for all road users: mindfulness and mutual consideration are indispensable in order to avoid such accidents and to get to the goal.
