Focus control in Rohrbach: 16 license plates due to tuning!
Last Saturday, June 28, 2025, extensive focus control took place in the Rohrbach district. These were carried out by officials from the state transport department together with the district police commands Rohrbach and Urfahr-Umgebung as well as penalty officers from the district administration. The aim of the controls was the review of illegal vehicle tuning, noise development and speed overruns.
A total of 52 vehicles were examined. Of these, 34 had to be subjected to an immediate technical review. Particularly alarming: In 16 of these vehicles, the experts found serious technical defects, which led to the acceptance of the license plates. In this context, the police filed a whopping 155 advertisements for technical defects. The district administration Rohrbach also did not remain idle and issued criminal complaints of 16,000 euros.
The speed controls
Another focus of the controls was on speed overruns. With 4,536 vehicles, speed tests were carried out, which led to 147 advertisements due to too fast driving. The speed record during the controls was an impressive 159 km/h, while only 100 km/h are allowed in this zone. These figures show once again how urgently such controls are necessary to ensure traffic safety.
illegal tuning in the focus
The topics of illegal tuning and vehicle changes are becoming increasingly important in Austria. [Rechtsanwalt-bongard.de] (https://www.rechtsanwalt-bongard.de/rechtstipps/tuning-und-kraufen-am-fahrzeug-benzliche-- und-entry liability) explains that individualization is popular, but not all modifications are legally harmless. Changes to the vehicle could let the operating license go out, which can result in not only fines, but also difficulties in the main inspection and, in the worst case, the loss of insurance protection.
German law regulates tuning measures via the Road Traffic Registration Code (StVZO) and the Motor Transport Act, with Austria also pursuing similar guidelines. Modifications are divided into registration -free, registration and forbidden changes. The most common changes in registration include chassis modifications or engine tuning that require a single acceptance.
traffic safety should always be in the foreground in all changes, because the responsibility is ultimately with the vehicle owner. Documentation of all tuning measures is essential to avoid later legal problems. In addition, accidents with illegally modified vehicles can endanger insurance coverage.
The current controls in the Rohrbach district underline the importance of compliance with traffic regulations and the consequences that threaten if there are disregard. ooe.orf.at summarizes the situation: a clear message to all drivers who should act more carefully at their next tuning project.
