The investigation already extends to the Czech Republic, which only reinforces the complexity of the case.

According to the crime prevention, domestic violence can take various forms, including physical, sexual and psychological violence. A static survey shows that every third woman in Germany has experienced violence in the course of her life and that every fourth woman has already been abused by her current or former partner.

This dark field is difficult to find out, since many affected people do not report out of shame or fear. The police crime statistics only documents the cases that are reported, which means that the actual figures could be far higher.

Femicides, the homicide of women due to gender inequality, show the urgency to put this topic in the foreground. In 2023, 938 of such acts or experiments were recorded in Germany, and it is high time that society acts actively for women's rights.
