Star run in Mödling: 38,000 euros for children in need!
The traditional star run at the Europa Sport Mittelschule (ESM) Mödling has given a record sum of EUR 38,209.30 this year. This amount is donated to charitable organizations for children, adolescents and families in difficult life situations for charitable purposes. The event took place from May 6th to 8th, 2025 in the Museumpark Mödling and was an emotional highlight of the school year, such as meinziKirk.at reported.
A total of 1,157 children took part in the run, not only students from the ESM, but also the partner school Köszeg from Hungary as well as several elementary schools, the Asso Mödling and the Vienna Business School. The star run thus followed the successful tradition, which was launched in 2012 among the then director Sabine Karl-Moldan. In the past 13 years, this initiative has already collected more than 347,000 euros for charitable purposes. This is the second highest donation in the history of the event.
social commitment and supporters
The event was visited by numerous guests of honor, including Mayor Silvia Drechsler, Mayor Rainer Praskak and City Councilor Michael Danzinger. The ESM director Caroline Mayerhofer and organizer Petra Näder-Pichler were also grateful for the extraordinary commitment of all participants and supporters. The donations come from sponsors such as parents, friends and other supporters who agreed to donate a euro for each round.
The Mödlinger Clubs "Rotary" and "Lions" play an important role in the organization and implementation of the star run and also support various social projects that are active in Mödling and internationally. A large part of the revenues are donated to the local organization, the Möwe-Child Protection Center Mödling, who recently celebrated its 20th anniversary and offers professional help for children and young people who have experienced experiences of violence. This year the Möwe Child Protection Center received a check for 3,500 euros, the Doris Strobl, the head of the facility.
further projects
Other organizations that benefit from the collected funds include the hobby lobby, children's hands, learning house Mödling, Momo and Protect Kids. These projects are dedicated to various areas, including free leisure activities for children, support for deaf children and pedagogical help for families in need. The organizers of the event are proud that around a decade ago, a total of around a quarter of a million euros have been collected from the event over a decade to improve the life of children in Mödling, such as Die-moewe.at
The success of the star run not only proves the community spirit of those involved, but also shows how important such social initiatives are in today's world. The next star run under the motto "Sternenlauf 2K25" is already in the starting blocks, planned for 2025, and the expectations are high as for the funds collected again for all of our, as well as moedling.rotary.at reports.
