Volunteers' help: course strengthens solidarity in Bad Waldsee!
In Bad Waldsee, an introductory course for volunteers in organized neighborhood help, which was carried out from April 30 to June 4, 2025, was recently held. The course aimed to prepare committed helpers for their important task in helping and lonely. Among the participants were around 20 people from Bad Waldsee, Aulendorf, Wolfegg and Bad Wurzach.
I can tell you that the topics of the course were anything but easy. It was about the sensitive use of questions such as dying, death and grief, and the disease dementia was also dealt with in detail. In addition, there was a great focus on prevention and the self -care of the helpers.
valuable support from volunteers
The neighborhood aid represents a valuable addition to existing care offers. Often relatives and professional services are not able to cover the full needs of those in need of care. According to senioren-focus.de, neighborhood aids can be offered by individuals, neighbors, friends or by clubs and parishes. The support is fundamentally on a voluntary basis, whereby an allowance is possible if certain criteria are met.
There are clear guidelines for the helpers. Among other things, they have to be of legal age, not live in the same household as the person in need and must not have a relationship to the second degree. In addition, you should have completed a six -hour basic course or a corresponding training in order to register and be able to invoice services.
Financial support from long -term care funds
Another advantage for those in need of care is financial relief. The long -term care insurance funds take up up to 131 euros per month for the allowance to recognize neighborhood helpers. This makes it easier for many people to integrate the needed support into everyday life. A neighborhood helper may support a maximum of two people in need of care at the same time, but it is important that he is not their caregiver.
activities of neighborhood help can be versatile: from accompaniment to visits to the doctor to walking together to support in the household. A trusting and respectful handling between helpers and those in need of help should always be maintained in order to avoid misunderstandings and to ensure positive cooperation.
The training, which was organized by Caritas Bodensee-Oberschwaben in cooperation with the parish of St. Peter, ensures that the helpers are prepared for their missions as best as possible. Gabriele Horn-Merz is available at Bos-nachbarschaftshilfe@caritas-dicvrs.de or Tanja Drewniok from neighborhood aid Bad Waldsee at 0176-41610522 for interested parties. Overall, it can be seen that the commitment in the field of neighborhood aid is not only an important support for people in need, but is also an important enrichment for the entire community. The volunteers not only bring practical support, but also humanity and empathy into the loneliness of many people.
