St. Stefan: Award for healthy schools and kindergartens!

In St. Stefan in the Gailtal, health is very important! The municipality is entirely committed to promoting health awareness among the little ones. As part of the initiatives "Healthy School" and "Healthy Childcare", three institutions were now honored. Health Councilor Beate Prettner presented the awards in the form of certificates and glass boards to elementary school as well as the kindergarten and the St. Stefan daycare center. These awards are not only a nice recognition, but also a sign of the successful implementation of health measures in these institutions, such as my-freizeit.net reports.

st. Stefan in the Gailtal is now a small health oasis in which these initiatives are very well received. There are a total of 89 "healthy schools" and 111 "healthy childcare facilities" in Carinthia, and the St. Stefan elementary school is the 56th school, which is honored with an award. Kindergarten and daycare center take place 59 and 60.

Healthy projects for little health heroes

The certified facilities rely on various projects to actively promote children's health. The focus of the St. Stefan daycare center is on the project "Garbage heroes and environmental detectives - Earth, we protect you", while the kindergarten with the motto "With me and you - from the me. Together instead of lonely" focuses on social interaction. The elementary school is reflected on the project "Those who move a lot stay healthy!", Which takes up the importance of movement. These measures are not only important for children's health, but also for their development to responsible and health -conscious individuals.

"The role of children as multipliers for health promotion in their families is of great importance," emphasizes Prettner during the award. It can be assumed that what has been learned and the healthy lifestyle are also carried into the families and thus have far -reaching positive effects on the entire environment. Such initiatives are also described as very important for sustainable health promotion on the website of ktn.gv.at

a sustainable approach in education

But what does this mean for education and upbringing? Health is not only considered as an individual, but also as a basic human right, such as the Kultus Ministry Conference (KMK). Health promotion in schools should be understood as a lifelong process that begins at school to maintain and strengthen the health resources and potential of all actors. Children learn not only to deal with their own health, but also to respect and promote those of their fellow human beings.

With this committed approach, St. Stefan in the Gailtal shows how health promotion and early prevention can go hand in hand. By learning what it means to live healthy from an early age, not only their own health, but also those of their families and the community are sustainably strengthened. This approach is definitely a future and could be a beautiful role model for many other communities in Austria.
