Chlorgas alarm at the outdoor pool: Large fire brigade in St. Martin!
A quiet Monday morning in St. Martin im Innkreis was disrupted when residents perceived an inexplicable smell near the outdoor pool shortly after five o'clock. Security is going on, and so the emergency call was immediately elected. The rapid alarm brought the St. Martin fire brigade, supported by special forces. In the shortest possible time, six fire brigades were on site, including the civil protection train and the operational support for Forchtenau in order to codage the potential danger.

A large area of security has been set up to protect residents. Around 100 firefighters acted in special protective suits, always in harmony with the highest safety precautions.
Fortunately, there were no injuries. Mayor Benjamin Salhofer from the ÖVP confirmed that nobody had been harmed and that the danger has now been banned. Such an incident raises the question of security when dealing with chlorine. On July 8, 2025, new leaflets were published that deal with the safe handling of chlorine. The professional association of raw materials and chemical industry has provided new information in collaboration with experts from the VCI and the Technology, Environmental Working Group, Security Chlor. These include essential points for the risk assessment, emergency prevention and coping as well as important technical and organizational protective measures.
