The new pipe is 70 meters long and leads fresh high source water from the Lainz water tank to the Hungerberg container in Döbling. Today reports that the construction work in April 2024 in the areas of St.-Veit-Gasse, Hietzinger Kai, Hadik- und Zehetnergelasse started.

A special feature of this renovation is the coordination with the construction of the new Wiental Canal. The drilling work took place in the difficult Flysch rock and were carried out with a special tunnel boring machine. The entire measure was planned in such a way that the surface restoration and greening of St.-Veit-Gasse should be completed by October 2025. The shaft will be closed in the summer of 2025 and the new management will be put into operation.
