Apprenticeship fair in the Hotel pineapple: secure the future of gastronomy!
In Vienna Margareten there is good news for young people who are looking for a training position. On Friday, July 25th, an apprentice fair will take place in the Hotel Ananas. This is organized by the SPÖ Margareten in cooperation with the clubs TiW and Sindband. The event starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m., and the best thing is: participation is free of charge and registration is not required. Interested parties should only bring their curriculum vitae in order to be able to apply directly to the companies.
The fair brings together several local companies that present their training positions. Among them is the Margaretens pensioner home of the "Houses to Life", McDonald’s and the Hotel Ananas itself. District head Christoph Lipinski (SPÖ) has pointed out the increasing inquiries from concerned parents and young people who are increasingly looking for support due to rejections. "The apprenticeship fair offers an important platform to get in touch with potential employers," says Lipinski.
shortage of skilled workers in gastronomy
The importance of such trade fairs is particularly clear in the context of the shortage of skilled workers in the hotel industry and gastronomy. Elke Hanel-Torsch, party leader of the district SPÖ, emphasizes that the need for qualified specialists is still high. According to SPIEGEL Open places in these professions rise again. In particular, the demand for supervisory and executives in food preparation and in the hotel industry has increased.
A study on kofa.de states that the number of vacancies in certain catering drivers is now 71 percent above the pre-crisis level of March 2020. Despite the recovery, the Corona pandemic did not contribute to increasing the attractiveness of training occupations in this industry. The number of training contracts concluded has been falling since 2011, and companies continue to offer more apprenticeship positions than are in demand by young people, which could raise long -term challenges.
challenge of young talent
The situation is clear: a withdrawal of the training companies from the training could make the supply of specialists considerably more difficult in the future. The lack of qualified workers is not just a snapshot, but could also affect the entire industry slowly but surely. In gastronomy it is of central importance to win the next generations of specialists to fight against the shortage of skilled workers.
If you are still looking for an apprenticeship, you should never miss the apprenticeship fair in the Hotel pineapple. This offers an excellent way to set the course for the professional future - and maybe start your career in the catering trade!
