Green future for Liesing: new HTL and bike paths come!
In the heart of Liesing, a lot is happening in terms of urban development. The NEOS launched an impressive meeting date, which took place on June 30, 2025. Here, three important applications were assigned to the responsible commissions: the greening of the surrounding area, including the tree plantings, the finance committee and the topics of roads and traffic areas to the traffic commission. The focus is clearly on a future-oriented Liesing, as well as [neos] (https://wien.neos.eu/aktuelles/neue/neue-tl-fuer--jobs-jobs-sichere-und-begege- and-begruenung-in-liesing) reports.
The planned construction of a new HTL (higher technical school) in Liesing is particularly gratifying for the region. This educational institution will concentrate on promising topics such as digitization, IT, circular economy and artificial intelligence and thus train urgently needed specialists. In addition, the evaluation of bus lines 56a, 56b, 58a and 58b was initiated to clarify the passenger complaints and to improve public transport.
professional design of public space
The planned renovation of the (bike) path along the Liesing River in the park system Gaulgasse and dog zone is beautiful. But that's not all: one focus is also on the accessibility of the renatured Liesing, where bathing opportunities should also be created in the future. These projects are in accordance with the goals of urban development, which aims at a healthy and livable environment that not only meets the needs of the population, but also takes environmentally friendly aspects into account, as the [Federal Environment Agency] (https://www.umweltbundamt.de/themen/nachhalt-strategies-internationales/planungsinstruments/ UmweltsuGen-sumenden--stadt development) emphasized.
In the area of the cycling infrastructure, Liesing is not only more accessible to cyclists, but also more environmentally friendly. By 2026, new cycle paths will be created over 9 kilometers, which will significantly increase mobility in the district. Bahnwien emphasizes that at least 60 new trees are planted in the course of this cycle path offensive. In total, there are more than 30 projects in the starting blocks that not only close gaps in the cycling network, but also create new connections.
a green district for all
The highlights include the new two -way bike path in Wohnparkstrasse, which creates a central connection to the Liesingbach cycle path. In addition, two underpasses on the Liesingbach cycle path have already been completed, which promote the flow of traffic under the main streets. Another important project is the redesign of Auer-Welsbach-Straße into a bicycle-friendly street that is scheduled to start from 2025.The coming years promise a real turn for Liesing: more green areas, improved traffic routes and future -oriented schools. The initiatives and measures seem well thought out and created in order not only to make the district more livable, but also more sustainable. With a balanced approach that takes into account both environmentally friendly and social aspects, Liesing shows that there is great development potential here.
