Record game in the Danube Park: 15 teams fight for the table tennis throne!

Donaupark, Wien, Österreich - An exciting edition of the Viennese table tennis district league took place on June 19, 2025 in the Danube Park in Vienna. Here, 15 table tennis doubles from eight different districts competed to demonstrate their skills and promote sporting exchange. The event was organized by the Table Tennis Hobby Vienna Association, which has set itself the goal of strengthening the community spirit of sport in the capital. The league started in January 2025 and has caused a great deal of enthusiasm since then. Numerous helpers are involved in the overall organization to ensure the smooth process.

The teams were divided into three groups:

  • group A: Team Floridsdorf, Team Donaustadt, Team Favoriten, Team Leopoldstadt, Team Ottakring
  • Group B: Team Meidling, Team Floridsdorf, Team Donaustadt, Team Leopoldstadt, Team Favoriten
  • group C: Team Liesing, Team Simmering, Team Floridsdorf, Team Donaustadt, Team Leopoldstadt

The game mode of the league stipulated that two winning sets decided which team emerged as the winner. At the end of the day, the Favorites team was able to look forward to the day's victory, while the Donaustadt team reached the highest score in the overall ranking. The feedback from the participants was consistently positive, which underlines the high demand for a continuation of the tournament. This is a good sign that table tennis in Vienna is still very popular.
