Wangari-Maathai-Platz, 1220 Wien, Österreich - On Tuesday afternoon of June 17, 2025, around 5 p.m., there was a dramatic incident at Wangari-Maathai-Platz in Vienna-Donaustadt. A 43-year-old man was attacked by a group of six young people. The police were alerted because of a dispute in the area, but it was obviously more than just a verbal conflict. The victim stated that they were initially harassed and spat on when leaving the subway station before the young people hit him and injured him with a knife in the lower back. The group of perpetrators is made up of young people between the ages of 13 and 18, who come from Syria and Iraq. After the incident, the police immediately initiated a search and was able to hold the alleged perpetrators near the Asperner lake. During the search, the officers found a folding knife in a cigarette box near the crime scene, which is considered to be the crime tool, as today.

It is particularly noteworthy that one of the perpetrators, a 13-year-old Syrian, was brought to a police inspection after the incident. The authorities then handed him over his observatory. While the other five young people remain at large, all six were reported for suspected serious bodily harm.
