Döblinger Wine Prize 2025: A festival for wine connoisseurs and winemakers!

On June 1, 2025, the time had come again: The annual handover of the Döblingen wine price took place in the impressive Schlumberger Keller worlds. The Döblinger Wine Prize, which now looks back at a proud 19 years, is organized by Tourismus association döbling in cooperation with the Vienna specialist group and the district leadership of the 19th district. This year a total of 131 wines were tasted blindly in 16 different categories, an impressive display of creativity and regional viticulture.

Thomas Preschta, chairman of the gastronomy WKW specialist, emphasized the important role of Döblingen winegrowers: inside for the gastronomy and Vienna tourism. "The wines are not just the product of our region, they are part of our identity," says Preschta. Robert Wutzl, deputy district head of Döbling, also emphasized the importance of wine as a cultural asset that shapes the landscape and connects the community.

At the festive event, the guests were not only offered the award ceremony; An accompanying wine food, organized by HLW 19 Straßergasse, rounded off the event. Students: Inside the HLW had the honorable task of preparing lunch for the jury and thus also showing their skills in culinary delay. "This is a great example of how education and tradition go hand in hand," said Wutzl and added that such events promote appreciation for local products.

Czink Florian from the Schlumberger wine and sparkling wine cellar spoke about current trends and found that the rosé wine in particular continues to enjoy a continuing megatrend. Personalities like Thomas Köberl and Birgit Köberl, who also gave the event, were also present.

A look into the future

Already now there is a look forward to the next event: The Döblinger Weinkost 2024 will take place on June 19 in the garden of the Schlumberger sparkling wine cellar. 21 winegrowers will present their best drops, which were checked in the HLW 19 a week earlier. Under the direction of the renowned graduate sommelier Josef Schuster, the 20-point system should again provide fair and transparent reviews.

The winning wines can be tasted by the guests and the documents are awarded under the patronage of district head Daniel Resch. The organizers learn support from the Gastronomy specialist group of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce as well as local partners such as Kastner "Aller Wine" and numerous other sponsors.

These events are not only the highlights of the taste, they also promote the community and awareness of our regional treasures. Vienna and especially Döbling stay on the great wine landscape that blooms every year.
