Anniversary: 50 years of gallery association Reutte - art history to touch!

The art scene in Reutte has a reason to celebrate: the Reutte gallery association is 50 years old. Founded under special circumstances, photographed and documented by historian Richard Lipp, reminds the story of a fateful moment in 1975. At that time, the renowned artist Rolf Aschenbrenner was hit by lightning, which encouraged friends and acquaintances to organize a benefit exhibition in Paulusheim to support him financially. These first steps resulted in the foundation of the association, which today represents an important cultural institution in the region, as [meinzirk.at] (https://www.meinbezirk.at/reutte/c-lokales/vereinsgruendung-wie-vom-blitz-get-get-get-get

The initial efforts meant that Richard Lipp was able to offer a permanent gallery space for Raiffeisenbank Reutte. This gave rise to the Raiffeisen Gallery, which quickly established itself as the nucleus of today's gallery association. The location changed three times over the years: from Raiffeisenbank to the Dengelhaus to the current Zeiller Haus in the Untermarkt. These developments are part of the living history of the association, whose supervisors have been of different strings over the years. By Richard Lipp (1975-1983) to Edda Ziegler to Veronika Kunz-Radolf, who has been directing the club's fortunes since 2014, they have all contributed to keeping art in Reutte alive.

A new chapter: The Zeillergalerie

Of course, the club duly celebrated its 50th anniversary. The current location of the Zeillergalerie was recently opened. With over 100 guests and musical accompaniment by the band "Mary Me", the event inspired, which also marked the beginning of the new exhibition rooms. Mayor Günter Salchner described the situation as the ideal, while the opening project includes an investment of around 300,000 euros in the municipality of Reutte, as https://www.rundschau.at/reutte/kunst-und-kultur-hoch-drei-ausserfern).

The new Zeillergalerie not only found a new home, but also created the opportunity for other events. In the renovation work, great importance was placed on taking the old building fabric and the creation of a barrier -free access. Various companies were involved in the implementation, but the gallery is not hidden that it is now a place of encounter for those interested in art and culture.

a review and outlook

Looking back at the history of the club, cultural officer Gr Robert Pacher has created a photo scheme that documents the development of the association by numerous images. Above all, these photographs show the exhibition visitors and reaffirm that the association acts as a social meeting point and art stage. An exhibition will be organized on the occasion of the anniversary, which will open on July 3, 2025. Works are shown by renowned artists such as Josef Müller, Katharina Ziegler and Reinhard Kofler, as well as from deceased artists such as Rolf Aschenbrenner and Edda Ziegler.

The Galerieverein Reutte is a sign that art and culture are very popular in the outside. Experienced artists and new talents find their place here, while the community remains active in the care of cultural traditions. There are not many cities in Austria that entertain such a lively art scene with a citizens' association, as [kunstforum.de. The next exhibition runs until July 19, 2025 and promises to become a highlight of the anniversary year.
