Young lions triumph at the Casablanca Cup in Schönwies!

My district reports that the 4th International Casablanca Cup took place in Schönwies last weekend. Organized under the direction of Martin Radda, this tournament offered the perfect setting for young teams from Tyrol and beyond, to prove their skills.

With a total of 23 participating teams in the U12 and U14 classes, the tournament was a real highlight in the regional football calendar. Well -known teams such as FC Wacker Innsbruck, Unterhaching and Austria Salzburg were represented. The latter prevailed in the U12 competition with a clear 2-0 against TSV 1860 Rosenheim and crowned himself as the winner.

U12 teams show their skills

It also became particularly exciting for the U12 of the young lions from Munich, which started the tournament with mixed feelings. After a 0-0 against Guntamatic Ried and a 0-2 defeat against WSG Tyrol, the team, trained by Rui Menezes, had to increase its performance. And they did it impressively. In the semifinals they defeated FC Wacker Innsbruck 2-0 and moved into the final.

In the decisive game against SSV Ulm 1846, the young lions managed to secure the tournament victory with a narrow 1-0. The first two games were devastating, but the trainer knows: "In the lost games we showed the better performance, only the goals didn't want to fall." It was a successful farewell for many players who switched to the U13. Rui Menezes, however, remains the U12 and is happy about the triumphal success.

U14 competition with exciting twists

in parallel, the U14 teams defy the challenges, with the SpVgg Unterhaching and SK Ebbs in the final. The regular playing time ended after a gripping fight, and the decision was made in the penalty shootout. There the Unterhachinger kept their nerves and secured the Casablanca trophy.

Wacker Innsbruck was able to convince third place in the small final and defeated the WSG Wattens. Martin Radda, the organizer of the tournament, was enthusiastic about the process and thanked all sponsors and helpers who contributed to the smooth course. "This tournament is pure advertising for young football!" Said Radda.
