Marktredwitzer musician conquer Innsbruck: World Champion in the accordion!

Innsbruck, Österreich - Innsbruck shines in the gloss of music! At this year's International World Music Festival, the Nuremberg accordion orchestra (NAO) was able to dust the first prize with an outstanding appearance. Under the direction of Stefan Hippe, the musicians enchanted: Inside the audience and the jury with an impressive repertoire, which included the fifth part of "The Mondes des Saturn", a composition by Hippe himself, as well as the dramatic finale from Tchaikovsky "Romeo & Julia". The competition, which is considered the largest stage for accordion orchestra, is also referred to in specialist circles as an unofficial "World Cup in the accordion". Over 3,000 participants: Inside from all over the world, the jury faced what makes the Nao's performance all the more remarkable because they achieved an extraordinary evaluation with 48.8 out of 50 possible points.

It is particularly gratifying that two talented accordion players from Marktredwitz, Martina Janschak and Sebastian Strahl are part of this excellent orchestra. The third winning of the NAO at the World Music Festival, after the titles in 2004 and 2010, takes a special position in the long history of the ensemble, which has been part of the world leadership of accordion music since 1946.

But the successes were not only reserved for the NaO. The Nuremberg accordion ensemble (NAE), under the direction of Marco Röttig, also celebrated a great success. They secured the third prize in the "Accordion ensembles maximum level" category and were awarded the "excellent" predicate. This underlines the high quality and the musical ability that is available in the region.
