Young people beat 46-year-olds: violence escalates in Innsbruck!

on Friday evening, May 31, 2025, there was a violent incident in Innsbruck that whirled the minds. Around 9:25 p.m., a 46-year-old man and a 15-year-old young person got into a heated verbal argument that quickly got out of hand. As the Tyrolean daily newspaper , the 15-year-old hit the face twice. As a result, the elderly grabbed the younger one on the arms, and both plunged to the ground. Both involved suffered injuries of an indefinite degree on the face and had to be medical care. The 15-year-old was brought to the Innsbruck Clinic, while the 46-year-old went to the hospital independently.

But that's not the only incident of violence that has shaken the city in recent days. Just a few days earlier, on Sunday evening, a 19-year-old Austrian was also victim of violence in Innsbruck. According to a report by today, three to four male youthful origin called for the publication of his backpack. When the victim refused, it was brutally hit the face and headed. In this case, the perpetrators fled after the attack. However, a 15-year-old Bulgarian was arrested as a suspect in the course of the search. This incident also ended with serious injuries to the victim that had to be brought to the Innsbruck Clinic.

The problem of violence in society

These two incidents also make a highlight of a widespread problem. Violence, especially among young people, is a topic that has increasingly become the focus of the public in recent years. According to a current survey on Statista , about 6% of young physical bullying experienced in 2022. A worrying trend, because almost every second teacher in Germany reported violent arguments among students.

The willingness to violence has increased among young people, particularly in socially disadvantaged areas. Almost 70% of teachers at such schools see a serious problem of violence. Cyberbullying is also increasing - a topic that has become an integral part of today's digital world. Over 80% of parents expressed the desire for anti-violence training in schools last year.

Society is required to take on this topic more. The incidents in Innsbruck are unfortunately not areolated cases, but reflect a bigger problem that urgently needs to be addressed. Schools could play an important role in violence prevention through preventive measures and programs on children's rights in order to suffocate future conflicts in the bud.
