Innsbruck's first graduate in expanding scientific computing!
Innsbruck, Österreich - Bernhard Thrainer wrote a remarkable chapter at the University of Innsbruck (UIBK): As the first graduate of the newly introduced extension study "Scientific Computing", he celebrated his end. The study program was launched in the winter semester 2022/23 and scores with an interdisciplinary approach that links both theoretical knowledge and practical applications. Thrainer, who has already completed a bachelor's degree in mathematics, is pleased about the new perspectives that his studies opened up. According to uibk.ac.at enables the range of courses to establish contacts and networks, which is of great value for prospective scientists.
"Scientific Computing" is not only located in mathematics, but is also used in various areas such as physics, medicine, archeology and medication development. The interdisciplinary learning is supported by committed teachers who help students orient themselves in the interdisciplinary research field. Eduard Reiter, a member of the team, invites everyone interested to deal with the topics of modeling and simulation. Further information is available at Scientific- Computing@uibk.ac.at.
expansion at the University of Innsbruck
The UIBK has big plans for the future: From autumn 2023 a number of new offers will be introduced, including five master's studies and further training. This gives students the opportunity to complement their studies with practical election packages that take up topics such as sustainability and digital science. The number of students increases steadily, with over 28,000 people who currently show about 130 subjects, such as science.apa.at. The new master's programs, including "Philosophy of Religion" and "Peace and Conflict Studies", are particularly interesting, both of which are offered in English. The master's degree in "Pharmaceutical Sciences", which is carried out in cooperation with the Medical University of Innsbruck, also aims to train an expert: Inside for the development of new medicines. These programs not only offer well -founded training, but also a strong practical relevance that can be decisive for future career prospects.
The future of medicine
Another exciting area at the university is research and teaching in the field of artificial intelligence and scientific arithmetic at the Medical University of Innsbruck. The faculty wants to act as a platform that promotes the exchange inside and outside the campus. The focus is on monthly seminars and current research projects, as can be read on the page aiscm.i- med.ac.at. The management of the area is in the hands of renowned scientists who bring the students up to date with the latest technological developments
With a promising future and a constantly growing number of study opportunities, it seems that the UIBK is on the best way to remain a center for innovative education and research in Austria. The moving stories of graduate: inside like Bernhard Thrainer are not only inspiration, but also proof of the valuable mix of theory and practice that the university offers.
