Innsbruck, Österreich - Innsbruck officially submitted his application on July 4th for the issuing of the Eurovision Song Contests 2026 Under the slogan "Together on Top", the Tyrolean capital senses its chance to bring this prestigious event to Innsbruck and thus attract international attention.
Mayor Johannes Anzengruber particularly emphasizes the openness and diversity of the concept in this context. "We want to present Innsbruck as a cosmopolitan cultural city in the heart of the Alps," says Anzengruber. This is underlined by the ideal location and the excellent accessibility of the city. Innsbruck is well connected via train, street and airport and has quick connections to important metropolises with Munich, Zurich and Milan.
The event location and the concept
The event location, the Olympichalle, is only 15 minutes on foot from the city center - a plus point that is not to be mentioned in the application. In addition, the city is planning to create the "Eurovision Village" on the Landestheaterplatz, right next to the old town. Economic State Councilor Mario Gerber sees an "international business card from Tyrol for all of Europe" in the song Contest and clearly advocates Innsbruck as the venue.
The application is made as part of the efforts to bring national and international events to Tyrol. The Olympiaworld Innsbruck is brought into play as a central event location. The idea behind the application is to emphasize the diversity and culture of the city and to represent it as a suitable place for such a large event without the city traffic interfering.

Concrete figures on the financial side of the event have not yet been published. In an article of the Tiroler daily newspaper , however, a cost preview of 19.47 million euros was promised. Governor Anton Mattle made it clear that the country will not provide any financial resources, apart from the necessary investments in the infrastructure.
The decision about the venue is made by the ORF and is to be announced in mid -August 2023. The Eurovision Week is expected to include three shows: the semi-finals and the grand finale, which is to take place on May 16 or 23, 2026, whereby the exact data still has to be determined.
