Education against anti -Semitism: Innovative project at the LMU Munich
On July 15, 2025, a ceremony took place at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich under the motto "Remember and shape the future". The highlight of the event was the presentation of an innovative teaching project that deals with anti -Semitism -critical education. Students of the LMU and middle school students: Inside from Munich were involved in this pioneering project. The management was in the hands of Prof.in Anja Ballis, Prof.in Mirjam Schambeck and Markus Gloe, who jointly developed an immersive learning setting.
The project has set itself the goal of linking historical learning with individual discrimination experiences. Topics such as reminding of history, the importance of history in the present and dealing with anti -Semitism and discrimination are dealt with. Various modern teaching methods were used as part of the event, including virtual reality, performative elements and dialog -oriented didactic formats. Gernot Knittelfelder from the LFU Innsbruck also took part in the event, which offered an excellent opportunity for professional exchange and interdisciplinary networking.

But what is actually behind anti -Semitism -critical education? According to the Center for anti-Semitism-critical education (CCEA) In Würzburg, an innovative approach is being followed here. The center deals with the question of how anti -Semitism can be addressed in various fields of education - from universities to schools to extracurricular institutions. It is worked on teaching and learning barriers that often exist, as well as the resources of students and teachers.
The CCEA was founded in 2021 and has set itself the goal of setting new standards in anti -Semitism -critical education. Structures for effective mediation are developed and evaluated. In addition, insights flow into the design of a certificate for anti -Semitism -critical education in schools and in class, which wants to effectively link practice and theory.

The issuing institutions endeavor to illuminate current dynamics and anti -Semitism -critical approaches in education and pedagogy.
