Accordion fever: 3000 fans celebrate in Innsbruck-Werdohler in the spotlight!

At the 14th World Music Festival in Innsbruck, which took place from May 29 to June 1, 2025, around 3000 participants came together to celebrate the love of music. This event is one of the largest meetings of accordion players worldwide. Over 160 accordion orchestras and 400 students from the Styrian harmonica competed against each other, such as Come-on.de reported.

participants from all over Europe as well as Australia and Asia were there on this festive occasion. The event was carried out by the organizers of German Harmonika-Verband e. V. and Harmonika Association of Austria organized and received support from the European Accordion Federation, which includes member organizations from Finland, the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria. The possibility of participation existed both as an active teammate and as a viewer.

the music as a connecting element

A particularly gratifying highlight of the festival was the performance of the big band "A-Train", in which the talented accordion and Styrian harmonica player Martina Kluge is involved. The band has been an integral part of the festival since 2013 and, with its performances in rock, pop and jazz music, provided fresh sounds that went far beyond traditional folk music. The band consists of around 40 to 45 active musicians who mainly come from the amateur area.

The impressive final party of the festival 明显 took on the shape of a large celebration, which lasted until after midnight. Kluge pointed out that music has a very special force that connects people across borders and generations. Grade publishers and instrument builders also took the opportunity to present their latest products and services at this great event.

competitions and not just music

The festival not only offered the opportunity to listen, but also to actively participate in competitions. The different categories included accordion, harmonica, Styrian harmonica as well as other harmonica instruments in orchestras, ensembles and bands. März 2025 offen waren, so Accordions.news .

In addition to these competitions, the accordion music award also took place, a youth competition by the German Harmonica Association, which is carried out every three years and is open to young musicians up to 27 years. The different categories and the level of the participants show how lively the accordion scene is and what talents are in the ranks of amateurs and professionals, such as dhv-ev-ev- explained.

The World Music Festival in Innsbruck not only represents a highlight for the music community, but also proves that the accordion is very popular in all music styles and continues to inspire many musicians.
