60 years of Generali Union Innsbruck: Pure football festival and party mood!
Innsbruck, Österreich - On June 1, 2025, Generali Union Innsbruck set a sporty sign and celebrated its 60th anniversary on the Fenner. The big football festival attracted numerous visitors who were looking forward to a colorful program. At 11 a.m. the event started with a game of the SPG Union SK Wilten women against FC Stubai juniors. The SPG Union SK Wilten has joined the Tyrolean Football Association in the coming season of the Women's reserve religa, which once again underlines the importance of women in football.
In summer temperatures, the Koi Street Bar provided culinary meals and the drinks supply left nothing to be desired. At 1:30 p.m. there was an exciting duel in the 1st class West, where Generali Union Innsbruck 1b had to measure itself with SC Mils 1b. With a 2-1 win and the gates of Beat Schultes and Leo Lukas, the Union 1b was able to collect important points. The team now has the chance to hold the promotion to the next league in their own hands, with the last game against the SPG Arlberg-Stanzertal.
a highlight in the football calendar
The afternoon culminated at 4 p.m. in the last home game of Generali Union Innsbruck in the Hypo Tirol League, which took place with an exciting coaching duel by Stefan Milenkovic and Andi Hölzl. Aliresa Karimi put the home team in the lead in the 38th minute, and in the 84th minute Milenkovic made the final score with his goal. After this successful performance, Milenkovic will switch to Völser SV as a coach next season.
visibly enthusiastic about the whole event, there were also part of the honor in which deserved members of the association were awarded. Among other things, honors went to the volunteers Sabine Müller and Manuela Hofer, and sporting successes were also recognized by Thomas Kofler, Stefan Milenkovic, Dominik Pandurevic and Mike Lener. Wolfgang Weiler and Herbert Lener were also awarded by the DSG Tyrol. The extensive official anniversary celebration then took place with numerous guests of honor from 6:30 p.m.
female football in the upswing
The focus was also on women's football as part of the festival. While women's football is on an ascending branch worldwide, players in Austria often have to get by with low fees of an average of 600 euros gross per month, while men earn over 8,000 euros. A fact that delivers a lot of conversation, especially with regard to the continuing challenges of prejudice and sexism within sport. The history of women's football in Austria shows a long development, which is characterized by milestones such as the foundation of the first Viennese women's football club "Diana" in 1924. These are just a few of the topics that take up reporting on women's football and remain relevant. The anniversary festival ended with a long party night, in which the visitors put together until late in the evening and enjoyed music. Another highlight is already in December: From December 26th to 30th, the 40th Generali Internationale Young Cup will be organized, which fans can look forward to.
For the Union fans, the anniversary remains a lasting memory, certainly shaped by the strong performance of the teams and the ceremonial of the day. If you want to experience part of the story, you also have the opportunity to acquire a limited anniversary subscription that offers free entry to all games of the Union teams in 2025 and is offered together with an extensive anniversary magazine.
