Students start spectacular alpine cross over the Alps!

The anticipation is great! In the near future, a group of students from the Helene Lohmann Realschule will start an adventurous Alpencross, which leads them over the Alps from the Zugspitze to Lake Garda. It starts on July 6th: The first stage leads from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Imst, where the students have to master about 65 kilometers with a height difference of 1,500 meters. A sporty undertaking that demands a lot from the participants both physically and mentally. As Lokalplus , the project "HLR-AlpenCross" has been integrated into the offer of the school since the school year 2017/2018.

A total of six stages are planned, in which the students have to master various challenges on their way. The second stage on July 7th leads from Imst to Nauders, and the third stage, which takes place on July 9, brings the young adventurers from Nauders to Merano. In between there is an exciting stamp on July 8th: a round tour around Nauders, which, in addition to sporting aspects, also offers a historical exploration.

preparation is everything

The participants prepare for this challenge for a whole school year. They regularly train on their mountain bikes and carry out skill exercises. In addition to physical fitness, there is also a lot of emphasis on organizational skills. The students are responsible for planning the routes, the bookings of the accommodations and logistics. Their preparation also includes dealing with topics such as nutrition, public relations and marketing, explains the website of the project hlr-alpencross.de .

"We not only want to survive in terms of sport, but also grow together in the team," says a participant. Team spirit is very important here, because the students have to show perseverance and commitment in order to successfully master the crossing of the Alps. They also document their progress with an app that measures the kilometers and vertical meters.

financing and support

Another central aspect is the financing of the project. The students take on small jobs to cover the costs for overnight stays, meals and arrival and departure. They also support each other in the organization and the search for sponsors. The call to support from donations can be found on the platform many-chaffen-mehr.de where interested supporters can learn more about the alpine students.

The entire group will wear uniform jerseys and also provide spare parts, so that they are well equipped. After all, attention is not only paid to sporting performances, but also for great culinary experiences. In the school kitchen, fine energy bars are made during the preparation, and as a reward for successful training sessions there are delicious Kaiserschmarrn.

The alpine challenge is just around the corner and the excitement among the students grows. With a lot of teamwork and solid preparation, you are on the best way to conquer the Alps and collect unforgettable memories.
