Riegersburg, Österreich - On June 10, 2025, a very special event took place in the Riegersburg library: Nico Langmann, the international wheelchair tennis star and author, presented his autobiography with the promising title "How to give up a dream to win a life". Langmann, who captivated his audience with his humorous and open lecture, not only shared his personal life story, but also his experiences and knowledge that he made on the way. It is not for nothing that he is a role model for many - despite his paraplegia, which he bought away as a result of a car accident at the age of only two years.

Langmann looks back on an impressive career that started ten years ago. With three participations in the Paralympic Games, including the competitions in Rio de Janeiro 2016 and in Tokyo 2020, as well as six state championship titles and 28 international tournament titles, he can already refer to significant success. In the world rankings, he even reached the 15th place, which is clear proof of his talent and tireless efforts.

a life for the children

The income from the sale of his autobiography flowed into the Nico Langmann Foundation, which is committed to providing special sports equipment for children with disabilities. "Sport gave me my life, so it is important to me to give something back," explains the athlete. With his commitment, Langmann would like to encourage others and show them that people with restrictions can also find their place in life and come true.

Langmann is not only successful in sports business as a player, but also as a keynote speaker and through sponsorship contracts that gave him around 200,000 euros in income. These successes underpin his goal of offering as many children as possible with disabilities the opportunity to actively participate in life.

an inspiring role model

Nico Langmann not only made a name for himself as a wheelchair tennis player, but also as an author who touches his audience with his history. "I would like to show that the circumstances are not important, but on the will to pursue his dreams," said Langmann. At the reading, numerous interested parties accompanied him who were enthusiastic about his inspiring history and his courage to live. His biography is not only a review of an extraordinary life, but also a call to everyone who takes on the challenges of life.
