Musical highlight: 51st chamber music days started in Irdning!

The 51st International Chamber Music and Master Course Days (IKMT) in Irdning brought together musicians from all over the world this year. From July 5 to 12, 2025, this event offered young talents and experienced musicians a platform to refine their skills and exchange ideas. According to meinderzirk took around 30 participants in the various championship courses, violin, violin, viola, Cello and double bass concentrated.

The master classes were led by renowned musicians who gave the course participants valuable insights into technology, expression and ensemble game. The organizational commitment follows a local tradition that is deeply rooted in the region. The company Johann Eisl with its long history from 1920 as a lime distillery and later as a provider of building materials and construction goods has developed to an important part of the community, also with its support for cultural life. This connection between tradition and innovation is also reflected in the radiance of the Chamber Music Day, which are now an institution in the Styrian event calendar.

The lecturer: Eckart Runge

A particularly remarkable lecturer this year was Eckart Runge. The cellist, curator and educator has an impressive career. After completing his studies, he gave concerts all over the world as a cellist of Artemis Quartet around the world for 30 years. He has been a professor of string chamber music at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf since 2023 and has now brought his experience into the chamber music days. His commitment to the music scene and the numerous prices that he won at the ARD competition in Munich, make him an enrichment for the student body and the cultural center of this event.

The chamber music and master course days in Irdning are therefore not only a training measure for many talents, but also a shop window for excellent musical achievements. The participants were able to share their passion for the music and also make new friendships. Such encounters are that help to keep the local and international music scene alive.
