Andreas Ottensamer: From clarinetist to the conductor - a fresh start!
Graz, Österreich - Andreas Ottensam, an outstanding clarinetist, recently given up his role as a solo clearinetist of the Berlin Philharmonic. The Austrian native plans to devote himself more to conducting and chamber music in the future. He is currently thrilled with a concert in Graz, where he performs Vivaldi's "Summer" from the "Four Seasons" and Othmar Schoeck's "Summer Night". Rondo Magazin reports that Ottensamer has now decided to leave the orchestra with intensive dealing with it.
The idea of working as a conductor was largely inspired by his mother. Ottensamer has completed his conducting studies in Weimar with Professor Nicolás Pasquet and has given concerts as a conductor since 2022. His experience in renowned orchestras among conductors such as Thielemann, Rattle and Muti benefits him. In the future, he would like to dedicate about 85 percent of his time to conduct, with striving for a harmonious balance between soloist and orchestral managers.
New album "Romanza"
Another reason to joy is the publication of his new album "Romanza", which was published on May 30th. In cooperation with the pianist José Gallardo, it contains a carefully selected list of slower, meditative-melancholic pieces. The central role of the “three romances” op. 94 by Robert Schumann, which was originally composed for Okto, attracts special attention and appear even more vocal with the clarinet. The selection of the pieces is based on the experience from over 200 concerts that Ottenamer carried out together with Gallardo.
The challenge of expressing a lot with a few notes sees ottenam himself. He is currently planning a variety of appearances: from June 5 in Würzburg, where he appears as a conductor, through the Bürgenstock Festival to the Menuhin Festival in the Gstaad. Each of these events offers him the opportunity to present its new musical plans to a broad public. The importance of chamber music is particularly important to the musician. He is looking forward to stepping onto the stage again in the future and collaborating with various musicians. He has already given considerable chamber music concerts in the past, where he worked with important artists such as Wenzel Fuchs and Lukas Hagen. A look at the chamber music
The music scene in Austria is facing exciting times. With personalities such as Andreas Ottensam and Dario Zingales, chamber music and conducting will surely reach new heights in the future and delight numerous listeners. The musical legacy is kept up and enriched with fresh wind.
