Referee soccer tournament: St. Johann triumphs in 911!

The lawn in St. Johann in the Haide recently became the setting for an exciting referee football tournament, in which a total of eight teams took part. This was an opportunity for referees from different regions to demonstrate their football skills and at the same time to have fun. At this Styria KWEITEN event, which took place at the sports facility in St. Johann, some high -ranking guests were also present, including Labg. Lukas Schnitzer and Mayor Günter Müller, who enriched the occasion with their visit. The event was organized by Franz Gmeiner, the area manager of the East area, which contributed significantly to the successful course of the tournament.

In the exciting final, the hosts from the East and Graz 1 area faced each other. After a goalless regular season, we went into the penalty shootout, where the home team was lucky on his side and secured victory. The other placements show that the other teams, including Graz 2, West, Enns, Süd, Mürz and Mur, also performed great performance and made the tournament a varied event. Particularly noteworthy is Filip Blazevic from the Enns area, which was awarded eight goals as the top scorer of the tournament.

attractive prices and joint action

The tournament's supporting program had a lot to offer. One highlight was the raffle for goods prices, in which Mario Zug sword won a thermal stay in the Thermenresort Loipersdorf including an overnight stay in the 4-star hotel. This set a common, festive accent a day, which was possible through great support from sponsors and volunteers. Special thanks went to the community and the sports club for the free provision of the sports facility, which was made available for the event.

These, as entertaining and sporty days, also take a look at the precarious situation of many referees. The demand for better-trained impartial becomes louder when you consider that ex-referee Konrad Glautz emphasizes how difficult it is to find qualified referees in the amateur area. Too often whistle officials instead of trained referees, which leads to wrong decisions on the pitch. The salaries also speak a language: Bundesliga referees earn around 1,350 euros gross per game, while in Germany an impartial one takes an average of 80,000 euros per year without having a professional league for referees.

In international comparison, it turns out: in Spain it is most lucrative, because there can be a referee with up to 300,000 euros per year. With us, however, the referees also expect a Florian Mayer challenge: If you are called to take on this exciting athlete role, you have to do more to expand the often inadequate recognition in society.

For such events, motivation and commitment are required - and which showed in St. Johann in the Haide that there is also a lot of cohesion and joy in movement in the referee community.
