Forest garden becomes resting oasis: Citizens design garden future!

The anticipation for the new forest garden is already great. At the beginning of the year, the city leased part of the forest garden. This was implemented with the aim of creating a green oasis for the population. With an online survey and a citizens' forum, numerous ideas for designing the garden were collected. Around 700 people took part in the survey, which shows that interest in the project is high. Despite many different opinions, there was no clear result in terms of the concrete wishes of the citizens.

in a creative exchange, led by Sarah Untner from "Raumsinn", a smithy took place in the Salzberghalle. Over 200 proposals were collected here and presented to the public in the brick -and -out stadl. The main goals are clear: the forest garden is to be designed as a rest oasis, similar to a spa garden. A balance between calm and isolated activities is sought to create attractive relaxation rooms for all age groups.

design principles and challenges

The future forest garden should be oriented closely on nature, without elaborate parkkarchitecture and with a lot of shade. The design also provides for a 'well -kept wilderness' that leaves space for relaxation and nature. However, certain things are not desired: dogs, barbecues, alcohol and loud activities such as fitness savings or large buildings should stay outside. Mayor Alexander Stangassinger pointed out that not all wishes can be fulfilled because a significantly larger garden would be necessary.

A steering group led by Moriz Weiner will implement the first measures and help to find consensus. As a first measure, the economic courtyard under Gerhard Fiegl is planning to establish access -free access and to create simple ways and set up benches. Stangassinger hopes that the garden will open for the public at the end of July or early August.
