First Ladi Petanque memorial tournament: Teams fight for a good cause!
Bad Leonfelden, Österreich - On June 2, 2025, the first "Ladi" Petanque memorial tournament took place in Bad Leonfelden, which aroused unforgettable memories of Gerhard "Ladi" Ladendorfer. The deceased co -founder and chairman of PSV Bad Leonfelden leaves a large gap after leaving us in autumn 2024 at the age of 83 after serious illness. Despite lousy weather forecasts, over 24 teams from Upper Austria had come to participate in this commemoration of an outstanding athlete and club man, such as tips reported.
The weather god had little pity on this day, because the rain started early in the morning. But that did not stop the 48 participants: equipped with thick rainwear and partly umbrellas, they held the wet weather. Under the direction of PSV game leader Willi Stumbauer, four rounds of 45 minutes each were held, and Oberösterreich's Oberster Petanque referee Andi Priesner had to interrupt the action once due to extreme conditions, how what is going on.
The winners of the tournament
After exciting games, in many cases even decided in extra time, there were clear winners. The “Bertl & Josef” team from Helfenberg, consisting of Engelbert Mandl and Josef Wöss, secured first place. The Linz “Fab-Aurel” (Aurélien Marcadon and Fabien Maestre), followed by “Jo & Franz” (Roland Bruckmayr and Franz Pointner), also took second place in Linz in third place. The entire atmosphere was characterized by fair play and a great deal of together, which the tournament reinforced as a sign of cohesion in the region.
Overall, participation in this special event could achieve a net proceeds of 1,500 euros. This amount will benefit a single mother and her nine -year -old son who suffers from a rare muscle disease. The regionality and helpfulness played a major role here, since local companies, including Raiffeisenbank Bad Leonfelden, the carpenter Kaar and Nordfels, supported the tournament.
petanque: a popular sport with tradition
Petanque, also known as boules, is not only in Austria, but especially in France, a very popular folk sport. The roots of the boules games go back to the 19th century when it was played on meadows, in streets and even in marketplaces. The first official tournament took place in Lyon in 1894 and already attracted over 1000 players. The game is known for its convivial way and offers a perfect way to meet friends and family, no matter what weather, as at the memorial tournament in Bad Leonfelden.
The "Ladi" Petanque memorial tournament is a successful example of how sport combines and at the same time support people in need. It was a day full of friendship, respect and sporty ambition that kept the memory of Gerhard "Ladi" Ladendorfer alive and gave the community a voice.
