Schwarzmüller-Radteam shines on the 5-lake bike marathon on the Mondsee!
At the 5-lake bike marathon on the Mondsee, seven athletes of the Clr Sauwald Schwarzmüller showed impressive performances. A total of around 2,500 participants competed and faced the challenges of the various distances. The results of the team stand out in this variety of active people.
on the longest route, which comprises a stately length of 200 km and 2,490 meters of altitude, Marcus Reischauer and Lukas Huber drove through the mountain landscape with full power. Marcus Reischauer reached a solid 48th place, while Lukas Huber crossed the finish line in just over six hours and even competed against some known athletes.
successes on the middle and short distance
On the medium -sized distance of 140 km with 1,250 meters of altitude, Werne Kavcic, Thomas Baminger, Florian Schlöglmann and Tobias Ranftl started. While Florian Schlöglmann had to accept a painful fall, he still managed to end the race after over four hours. Werne Kavcic was the best driver of his team and took over the 105th overall and an excellent 11th place in his age group.
Jan Klaffenböck, on the other hand, competed on the shortest distance of 75 km and was also able to make a name for itself with the 19th place in the overall classification. At the same time, Kavcic was also active on the Imster cycling marathon, where he started the race against adverse weather and free -range cows. There he finished 334 and finished 18th in his age group, with a total of 860 starters.
The challenge of timing
Interesting is that the rating of the bike marathon takes place according to the principle of the net time. Here the time counts from crossing the starting line to the finish, regardless of the start of the start. This ensures that the driver, who is the first to cross the finish line, is also the official winner. Particular attention is paid to the teams that could possibly take advantage of this regulation in order to achieve unsportsmanlike advantages, as was the case in 2023 for a bike team, which led to dangerous situations.
The importance of such sporting events is not only shown in the hard competitions that live through the athletes, but also in the growing popularity of cycling. For example, Strava, one of the leading platforms for athletes, recorded an increase in activities in cycling: 73 million registered athletes covered a total of 17 billion kilometers.
at a time when outdoor sport was characterized by various challenges, training frequency rose by 13.3%worldwide, which was particularly clear during the first wave of Corona pandemic. It is particularly clear from this aspect that cycling is not just a hobby, but for many an important part of life.
The success of the athletes from the Clr Sauwald Schwarzmüller on the 5-lake cycling marathon are not only a snapshot, but part of a larger trend that hopefully will continue to keep cycling in Austria. We are excited to see what other top performance will follow in the near future!
