What an exciting day in the Mühlviertel! On May 31, 2025, the third stage of the 15th International Raiffeisen Upper Austria took place from Bad Schallerbach to Aigen/Schlägl. The spectators got their money's worth, because the Mexican bike professional Edgar David Cadena triumphed over 141.1 kilometers and secured the coveted yellow jersey.

Cadena, who drives Petrolike team and saw the light of day on August 20, 2000 in Mexico City, attaches great importance to his physical fitness. With a weight of 63 kg and a size of 1.70 m, it cannot be overlooked. Today he drove the route in 3 hours, 22 minutes and 9 seconds and set himself off with a lead of only 4 seconds from Aaron Dockx (Belgium, Alpecin Deceuninck Development Team). Marco Schrettl, the best Austrian in this race, landed in 5th place, only 6 seconds behind the leader.

overall tour taken over

Thanks to his victory, Cadena took over the overall tour of the tour with a total time of 7 hours, 43 minutes and 14 seconds . However, the competition remains exciting - the decision on the tour victory will fall on the Höss in Hinterstoder tomorrow at the mountain arrival. The fourth stage on June 1, 2025 will include challenging 132.3 kilometers with impressive 2,570 meters of altitude. The final increase has a length of 9.8 kilometers and an average inclination of 8.4 percent

A total of over 3000 kilometers has covered Cadena in the last 24 days and shows an impressive performance with 20 UCI points and 11 PCs . But not only Cadena, other drivers also demonstrated their skills. Seven outliers, including Benjamin Eckerstorfer and Thomas Tichler, took off early, but were captured again 10 kilometers before the finish. Further top plants went to Giacomo Ballabio, Philipp Hofbauer and Colin Stüssi in places 6 to 8.

Austria's cyclists in the spotlight

The dominance of the Mexican does not have to steal the show to the domestic athletes. Marco Schrettl is currently fourth in the overall ranking, only 20 seconds behind Cadena. Riccardo Zoidl is in 13th place and has a gap of 28 seconds on the leader. The competition is hard for the Austrian cyclists, but they are ready to give everything to get to the top.

How will the tour develop in the coming days? We are looking forward to the next stage and fire both Cadena and the domestic drivers!
