Linz celebrates variety: The large Linzpride parade will start soon!

Linz, Österreich - It gets colorful in Linz! On June 21, 2025, the city invites you to Linzpride, a colorful parade that moves through the city center under the motto "Diversity under the rainbow". With numerous activities in the Pride month of June, Linz is making a strong sign for the LGBTIQ+community, because the city has committed itself to fighting hatred, discrimination and violence.

The Linzpride itself begins on June 21 at 2 p.m. in the Volksgarten and ends at OK-Platz, where the "Pride Night" is also celebrated from 9 p.m. These events not only offer a colorful supporting program, but should also create a space for exchange and networking.

systematic use against discrimination

In order to meet the existing challenges in the LGBTIQ+community, the city of Linz implemented measures through the LGBTIQ*concept. This concept focuses primarily on education, prevention, support and networking of the queer community. "Visibility for queer people carries risks," confirms Michael Müller, spokesman for Hosi Linz, and demands increased attention to security aspects and violence prevention.

The first steps in this direction were made in 2023 by the opening of the first LGBTIQ* competence center in Austria, which has low -threshold advice in various areas. In order to meet the need for further offers, an annual LGBTIQ*forum is also planned to ensure exchange and networking. It is also particularly important to support allies, i.e. people who do not belong to the queer community, to combat queer hostility and to promote dialogue.

All of these measures are not only important locally, but also make Linz visible in a European comparison. The rainbow map lists how urgently the use for LGBTI rights is in many countries. While countries like Malta continue to offer the best conditions for LGBTI people, the card also shows shocking setbacks in other European countries. Linz is making a good example here.

With the Linzpride and the supportive measures, the city shows that it is determined to support the queer community and to live appreciation for diversity. This not only makes Linz a rainbow city, but also a living place where everyone has a place.
