Gerald Scheiblehner becomes a coach of the Grasshoppers Zurich until 2027!

Linz, Österreich - Gerald Scheiblehner has taken a new place in the Swiss football scene. Today he was officially presented as the new head coach of the Grasshoppers Zurich. The 48-year-old changes from Blau-Weiß Linz, where he has celebrated great success in the past four years. In the 2022/23 season, he led the team to the championship in the second division and thus to the highest Austrian division.

Scheiblehner follows Tomas Oral, whose contract was not extended in the Grasshoppers. Under Oral, the team ended in the penultimate place last season, but was able to secure the whereabouts in the league through the relegation. The expectations of Scheiblehner are high because he already demonstrated during his time in Linz that he has a good feeling for the development of players and teams. According to Alain Sutter, the sports director of the Grasshoppers, Scheiblehner's experience clearly stands out and his working style fits well with the philosophy of the club. "We are happy to have Gerald with us," said Sutter.

The new contract of Scheiblehner in Zurich is dated to 2027. This underlines the association's trust in its skills and his vision for the future. Already last November he showed interest in the coaching position after Marco Schällibaum was released. Due to his exit clause during the contract extension in Linz, Scheiblehner was able to take the step to Zurich without major hurdles.
