historical context and religiosity

The parish of Kopfing has an eventful story that is also characterized by resistance to the church and the authorities. The Glatzinger Bründlkapelle in particular has gained great religious importance even in times of difficult circumstances, such as famine and military turmoil during the War of the Austrian Succession. The exceptionally cold winter in 1739 and 1740 strongly influenced people and contributed to strengthening their religiosity. These traditions are part of the history of pilgrimage, which has been preserved for centuries and is continued by numerous believers.

The book also focuses on the dramatic circumstances of the time, including the high mortality rate due to the Red Ruhr, which cost 77 people in Kopfing. These fates are part of the collective memory, which is now proud and gratitude to the memory of the believers. The votive tablets, which can still be found in the Bründlkapelle today, are lively evidence of the healings and thanksgiving that people combine with this spiritual site.

The parish of the heading not only stands for a long history, but also for the deeply rooted religiosity, which has shaped many generations. Klaffenböck's book is not only an important contribution to local research, but a tool to keep the connection between past and the present alive.
