Renovated Ischlerbahn wagons: A piece of history for Bad Ischl!

In Bad Ischl, history comes to life! The historic train set, which is reminiscent of the former "Ischlerbahn" between Salzburg and Bad Ischl, has received a new shine through extensive restoration. This initiative was launched by master builder Alfred Jägersberger and supported by the city of Bad Ischl and the "Club Salzkammergut-Lokalbahn". It is particularly gratifying that we can also see the talent of young people in this project.

The HTBla Hallstatt played an important role, especially the creative minds Ronja Feichtinger, Alexander Schmid and Paul Zakall. You have written your diploma thesis on a "usage and restoration concept of a historical wagon of the Salzkammergut Lokalbahn", which impressively demonstrates the connection between theory and practical application. Mayor Ines Schiller was enthusiastic about the commitment of the students and the progress in the renovation.

take a look into the past

The Salzkammergut Localbahn "Ischlerbahn" played an essential role for tourism and the economy of the region from 1893 to 1957 by combining Salzburg with Mondsee, Wolfgangsee and Bad Ischl. Her attitude in 1957 is viewed by many as a traffic policy mistake, which is why the Club SkGLB is stronger for the Reverse of the railway on the Salzburg - Mondsee - Bad Ischl. The goal is to link attractive local transport with a scenic tourism offer to counteract the traffic problem in the eastern Salzburg Flachgau and in the northeast of Salzburg.

The new Salzkammergutlokalbahn would not only improve the accessibility of the region, but also offer contemporary tourist travel and experience opportunities for visitors. In addition, nostalgia traffic with historical vehicles is seen as an exciting attraction for tourism. For those who want to learn more about the history of the Ischlerbahn, there is an exhibition in the Museum Mondsee, which comes up with historical photos and information.

a strong joint commitment

The first phase of the renovation work has already been completed, and the support of the city of Bad Ischl and the association has significantly promoted the process. President Günther Gritsch and Secretary General Peter Oberascher emphasize the importance of the activities around the historical set. The Bad Ischl municipal council also unanimously called for a feasibility study for the Upper Austrian section to advance the revival of the Ischlerbahn.

The association also aims to promote environmental and climate protection through an increased switch to public transport. It remains to be hoped that the commitment and efforts of the participants will soon bear fruit and that one day the Ischler railway steams through the beautiful landscape of the Salzkammergut.
