HTL Braunau delighted on Google: Students learn from the best!

Braunau am Inn, Österreich - "Experience technology up close"-under this motto, the HTL Braunau recently visited the Google Office in Munich. The final classes of the electronics and technical computer science department formed the tour group. The excursion was not only an exciting change in everyday school life, but also a valuable opportunity to gain a deeper insight into the world of technology. The Google office, home of around 2,000 employees, offered the students: Numerous interesting facets of the IT industry inside.

The students were received

by Christoph Sperl, an HTL graduent from 2010 and Staff Software Engineer on Google. He led the group through the impressive premises and gave two lectures, which in particular illuminated the topics of memory and anonymization in digital space. In his explanations, Sperl emphasized how significant training at HTL Braunau was for his own professional career. The students were enthusiastic and one of them even described the excursion as the "best of his school days". Matthias Grimmer, the excursion leader, emphasized Sperl as a shining example of the diverse possibilities that are available after training at HTL Braunau.

innovations in the HTL Braunau

The HTL Braunau not only emerged from the visit to Google, but also through various successes and awards in the last year. For the eleventh time in a row, the school was voted the most innovative school of Upper Austria in the “Youth innovative” competition. A total of 26 diploma theses received the Eco or Digi bonus, which represents a new maximum value. In total, the projects were able to take home prize money of 7,800 euros. The three outstanding bionic projects that were able to move into the federal final are particularly worth mentioning

  • EEG-controlled forearm prosthesis, developed by Julian Gerstlohner and Fabian Schratz
  • The Plastic Eater, developed by Anna Simonsen and Samantha Wanderer
  • ecoboard, developed by Robert Palmer and Jan Reischl

These projects show the high innovative strength of the students: inside and their commitment to sustainable solutions. The Plastic Eater even received honors from the Energy Globe Awards Upper Austria and is now on the way to the top of the environmental technologies.

commitment and future

The HTL Braunau also offers numerous activities for the students: inside. A holiday campaign entitled "Sport meets technology" will offer children and adolescents between the ages of 10 and 13 from August 7th to 9th, 2023 the opportunity to get to know technology in a playful way. In addition, a lecture by Florian Skrabal about journalism provided interesting impulses and stimulates thinking.

The open day, which is scheduled for December 6, 2024, all diploma work projects of the Maturants are exhibited. Another creative project is the exchange with teachers from Nicaragua, which has been taking place since mid -April 2023 and aims at a continued colorful and interactive learning atmosphere in HTL Braunau.

Overall, the HTL Braunau impressively shows how narrow technology education is linked to sustainable projects and practical experience. Even in the coming years, the school will work with a strong focus on innovation and sustainability and thus its student: offer the best opportunities for their professional future inside.
