New shine for the L 149: Lane renewal between Neumühle and Blumau!
In the municipality of Hollenthon in the district of Wiener Neustadt, the state road L 149 between Neumühle and Blumau is currently being subjected to comprehensive lane renewal. These measures are estimated for a length of around 1.4 kilometers and aim to adapt the road to modern traffic requirements, since it was badly affected by flaps, cracks and settings. The project was officially completed on June 20, 2025 by Jürgen Handler, Mayor Manfred Grundtner and Klaus Längauer, the head of the Lower Austria Road Construction Department Wiener Neustadt.
The renovation work, which was carried out by the Swietelsky company from Loipersbach in early June, began shortly after the junction to Gleichenbach and ended in the direction of Blumau. Almost 8,400 square meters of the roadway were processed. The existing road widths were preserved, while the surface milled up by six centimeters and restored with a new bituminous asphalt layer. Overall, the construction costs amounted to around 250,000 euros, which were fully borne by the state of Lower Austria.
Quality and safety in road construction
The renewal of the L 149 stands out for compliance with the guidelines and regulations for the street system (RVS), which are issued by the Federal Ministry. These guidelines are crucial to ensure a uniform level of quality in road construction and to standardize both the planning and construction process. The Federal Ministry issues instructions that are binding for everyone involved, from civil technicians to construction companies.
With more than 350 RVs, which are created by voluntary work committees, consisting of representatives of authorities, science and construction industry, not only ensures the safety of the users, but also generated economic benefits. Thanks to these regulations, the participants in the planning and execution in all infrastructure areas can access the latest technical standard, which is crucial for the longevity and sustainability of the construction projects. The FSV offers the possibility to move into the RVS via their shop, whereby many sensitive topics such as pedestrian traffic and child-friendly mobility be treated.
A look into the future
The successful renovation of the L 149 shows that political commitment and professional craft go hand in hand to make the street infrastructure in Lower Austria future -proof. With the completion of this construction work, residents and commuters can count on a safe and modern transport connection. The use of constant and proven materials, such as those defined in the RVS, will help to meet future challenges in the traffic sector.
