In the sign of music, the small community of Dobersberg shines! The eleven -year -old percussionman Simon Zahrl won the federal victory in his age group in the renowned national competition "Prima La Musica" in Vienna. With a fantastic score of 95 out of 100, Simon convinced the jurors and secured the first prize in the category of percussion, age group I. This competition, which took place at the University of Music and Performing Art Vienna, brought talented young musicians together: inside from all over Austria to present their achievements. What made Simon's appearance so special? He prepared a varied program that included a piece for small drums, a demanding four-sledge piece on the Marimbaphone and a drum set with piano accompaniment. "Prima La Musica" is not just a simple music competition, but the largest Austrian youth music competition, which offers a comprehensive view of the achievements of young talents in all nine federal states. As on musicum.at , a total of 806 participants: inside 10 to 21 years in solo and chamber music categories. Not only were wind instruments and striking gear, creative ensembles also ensured musical diversity.
The entire competition took place from May 18 to 29, 2023 at various locations in Graz, including the Graz University of Art and the Palais Merano. Around 15,500 virtual spectators followed the competition as a live stream, which underlines the modern approach of the event. For the young musicians: inside it was a valuable experience to demonstrate their skills not only in front of the jury, but also in front of a large audience.
A look at the award winners
The jury was really not easy because the services were outstanding. In addition to Simon, two other talents from Upper Austria were honored with high awards. Jakob Gattermann won the main victory with 97.40 points in the Tuba Ivplus category, while Paul Elias Rischanek was on the winning podium with 97.20 points in the Oboe IVPlus category. Simon Zahrl, an active member of the Dobersberg Music Association, shows with his achievements that he is not only a talented musician, but also a proud model for his colleagues.
