Danish investor saves Palmers: Future of the laundry dealer secured!

Wiener Neudorf, Österreich - In the past few months, an exciting turn in the history of the traditional laundry dealer Palmer has emerged. The company, which has been active in the textile industry since 1914, is now taken over by the Danish investor "Change of Scandinavia". According to meinbezirk.at this is a complete takeover, which not only ensures the continuation of Palmers, but also a decisive contribution to the company's debt do.

The takeover is no coincidence. In May 2025, the believer meeting accepted the renovation plan, which provides for a payment rate of 20 percent. The plan stipulates that the remaining 15 percent of the debts are paid in three rates 5 percent within 12, 18 and 24 months. The Danish investor has agreed to implement this payment plan, which significantly improves Palmers' solvency. Karl-Heinz Götze, head of bankruptcy at KSV 1870, emphasizes: "Palmers AG is freed from financial contaminated sites when the overall quota is met."

overview of the takeover

Change of Scandinavia, which operates over 300 branches in Europe and Canada and employs around 2,000 people, brings a breath of fresh air to the battered company. Palmers currently has 117 locations in Austria and employs around 340 people. Unfortunately, the company also had to close 47 branches, which illustrates the challenges with which it was confronted, especially in times of the Corona crisis, as due to a scandal about FFP2 masks.

The takeover takes place as part of an insolvency proceedings that opened in February 2025. This is a so-called Sharedeal in the context of an insolvency plan, such as Deutscheranwaltspiegel.de The company is taken over as a whole, which means that important contractual relationships are largely preserved.

The challenges and perspectives

In the period before the takeover, Palmers was faced with considerable financial difficulties. The operators, including the brothers Tino and Luca Wieser, have now handed their tasks to Change of Scandinavia. This could promote new strategic synergies in procurement and production. The goal behind this transaction is sustainable profitability and the preservation of the Palmer brand.

With this takeover, Palmers might finally be able to start again. For the numerous employees and customers, it is to be hoped that the changes will not only strengthen the company, but also the traditional brand in the long term. The next few months will show how successful this renovation is actually. Even if the path is still rocky, with the new owner you seem to have a good hand for the future of the brand.
