Record sports festival in Korneuburg: 350 students rock the Summerplash!

in the penultimate school week at the Korneuburg sports and vital middle school was high. On June 20, 2025, the 20th edition of the popular Summerplash event took place, which again captivated numerous children and parents. This day was all about movement and illuminated how important sport is for the development of the youngest.

The record of 28 sports stations attracted around 350 students who demonstrated their skills in various sports. Not only classics such as basketball, dancing and table tennis were offered, but also exciting disciplines such as beach volleyball, football and rowing, the local clubs such as SV Stockerau, the Union Bisamberg, the AFC Grizzlies and SK Korneuburg offered. A favorite of the public was the "Playground" of the Union Korneuburg, which was explored by the kids with a lot of skill and joy.

The mood was exuberant despite the mixed weather. Director Reinhard Rössler praised the commitment of everyone involved and thanked the numerous clubs and the organization team, which included Höfinger Gottfried and Yvonne Schwarzböck. Mayor Christian Gepp and the chairwoman of the middle school community, Heidi Muhm, emphasized the diversity and professionalism of the event, which could be realized with generous support from the Sparkasse Korneuburg.

With around 300 students: Inside the Korneuburg elementary schools and the sports & creative middle school, which already trained in advance at the various sports stations, the children were offered valuable exercise experience. The highlights included the station Soccer Dart, which was very popular. The varied buffet, which was partially financed by Eurospar Korneuburg, rounded off the event and ensured that the culinary enjoyment was not neglected.

This event not only has an entertaining function, but also an important one. With the pandeme-related restrictions and the decline in sporting activities during the Covid 19 pandemic, the importance of movement for children and adolescents has increasingly moved into the spotlight. A study shows that there was a drastic decline in sporting activities during the pandemic, which can result in health consequences in the long term. Against this background, the Summerplash shows how essential such movement days are to inspire the young generation for sports and playing and to offer them a balance to the challenges of recent years.

The combination of joy in the movement, the sense of community and professional implementation not only was very well received by the students: but was also a sign that the promotion of sport and activity for the next generations was very important. With their commitment, the organizers and participating clubs have made a decisive contribution to raising awareness of the importance of physical activity and encouraging children to actively participate in the community

In summary, we can say that the Summerplash was again a great success and shows how important it is to offer children a platform to do sports and at the same time have fun. With a solid foundation for the future, we will get our goal of gaining children and adolescents for an active lifestyle.
