Young Europeans shape the future: a year without a cell phone in Lower Austria!

In Lower Austria, young people can look forward to a special event: The Eljub e-book week took place for the 13th time this year. She brought together young participants from 12 European countries. The topic of the week was particularly exciting: "one year without a cell phone". Not only was it creatively working here, but there were also workshops and mixed working groups in which all participants could bring in their ideas and views. As the Stadtlandzeitung reports, there was no stone on the other, while the young people worked together on an e-book and a film, supervised by experienced media professionals.

The aim of the event was to actively help shape the future of Europe. Topics such as empathy, emancipation and the right of rights were treated in Europe. Through such youth encounters, which according to Erasmus+ offer a great way to develop joint projects, the young people can exchange their views and skills and at the same time close new friendships across borders. The event lasted from July 1st to 4th and ended with a solemn final evening in the picturesque backdrop from Spitz on the Danube.

creativity and commitment of the participants

The fascination with the Eljub e-book week was not only shown in the over 48 participants from countries such as Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Lithuania, Albania, France and Finland. The creative results were also impressive: the young people presented their experiments with artificial intelligence and thus gained valuable experiences that are documented in the Youth Pass.
These learning experiences are not only important for personal development; They also help to strengthen international cooperation among young people.

The week was organized by the project manager Veronika Trubel and the Lower Austria literary award winner Walter Grond. The initiative was supported by the Lower Austrian Landesjugendreferat, the association pilgrimage & surfing Melk as well as the Department of Art and Culture of the State of Lower Austria and ARGE Donuland. The Erasmus+ programs also contributed to realization. Interestingly, the ELJUB Network will soon be reinforced by new partners from Germany and Lithuania.

an outlook on the future

The event may be over, but the plans for the future are already in full swing. An elbes of dialogue conference will take place in Tulln in September 2025. This sequel will give valuable impulses to continue working and discuss new topics. All interested parties can look forward to the soon-to-be e-book on the website www.eljub.eu that will summarize the results of this inspiring week.

For everyone who is interested in such projects, the EU program Erasmus+ offers numerous options. Young people between the ages of 13 and 30 can take part in various activities that range from workshops to sports to debates and role -playing games. The participation in youth encounters is supported by EU financial aids, so that everyone has the chance to gain international experiences. If you want to learn more about these programs, you will find a lot of information and aids under Erasmus+ to become active yourself.
