Egbad in Horn-Bad Meinberg opens: start of the season after two years!
The waiting has an end: The Egbad outdoor pool in Horn-Bad Meinberg finally opens its doors! After two years of closure due to technical problems and extensive renovation work, the population can look forward to a refreshing start of the season. On Saturday, May 31, at 9 a.m., swimming begins in the newly designed bathroom.
The closure of the outdoor pool in 2023 and 2024 was a hard time for all swimming enthusiasts. Thanks to intensive work by the city administration and considerable investments of around 950,000 euros, a modern and operational swimming pool could be created. The successfully implemented measures include the exchange of old pumps and pneumatic flaps, a comprehensive update of measurement and control technology as well as the installation of a new control technology. Particularly noteworthy is the renovation of the chlorine gas system, which is of central importance for the water quality.
modernization and redesign
In addition to the technical renewal, the support association and the municipal building yard have made many optical improvements. In addition to the exchange of old climbing devices through new rocking animals, the beach volleyball field was converted into a soccer field. The boulefeld, the table tennis table, the terrace and the beds were also brought to the forefront. Thanks to the new painting, the figures on the children's pool are now shining in a fresh shine.
On the opening day, admission will be free for all guests. With this, the city not only wants to promote the joy of the new bathroom, but also to address a wider population layer. The regular opening times apply after the opening day: Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The bathroom remains closed on Mondays. The admission prices are attractive for adults, 1 euro for young people and 5 euros for families.
Interested parties should also paint on June 15th in the calendar, because an outdoor pool festival will take place on this day. Here the organizers expect numerous activities to celebrate the newly designed bathroom.an outlook on the future
The reopened system is the focus of local bathing culture, but the challenges do not fail to do so. According to a special survey by the German Institute of Urban Studies, around any seventh public swimming pool could close in the next three years if there are no extensive renovations. This danger is also not unknown to the egg resident; Mayor Heinz-Dieter Krüger emphasizes the importance of continuing to invest in maintenance and technical modernization in order to ensure a reliable bathing company in the long term.
It remains to be hoped that the egbad will not only be a short -term success, but also remains a popular attraction for the population. If the weather is involved, nothing stands in the way of a sociable and relaxing summer in the outdoor pool.
