Westbahn brings new support to Kühnsdorf: A win for Carinthia!

A radiant day for Carinthia is imminent: from March 2026, the Westbahn will hold five times a day in Kühnsdorf and Pörtschach. State Councilor Sebastian Schuschnig had recently negotiated with representatives of the Westbahn in Klagenfurt about this significant step. Unfortunately, the celebrations were somewhat clouded by events in Graz, but interest in the new connection remains unbroken.

"This is a real breakthrough for southern Carinthia", it broke out showered, which mainly pointed out the positive economic effects. The plans were presented in advance in Klagenfurt - the cooperation between the state government and the Westbahn is characterized by a happy course. This connection will not only make it easier to travel between Villach and Vienna, but also offer a direct connection to popular excursion destinations such as Lake Klopein.

timetable and comfort

The new high -speed trains that are used from March reach speeds of up to 250 km/h and can easily transport up to 422 passengers. The trains are equipped with leather seats, sockets on every place and a free seat reservation service. The travel times will be impressive: only 33 minutes you need from Graz to Kühnsdorf and 45 minutes to Klagenfurt.

"Kühnsdorf is planned as an integral part of the timetable," said Westbahn Managing Director Thomas Posch and assured that there will be different price models in order to meet the different needs of travelers. Ticket prices are currently not known, but they will soon be announced.

regional importance

Mayor Hannes Mak of Gallizien and Member of the Landtag Mak see this offer a huge chance for the region. "Long -distance traffic will have a noticeable influence on tourism and the economy," said Mak. In addition, a shuttle service to the Klopeiner See is already in action, which should better connect visitors to the popular leisure area.

For the residents in southern Carinthia, the Koralbahn is a holistic project from which over 40,000 inhabitants will benefit. The ÖBB should also set up a few holds in the future, but showering has high hopes for a competition and additional commuters from other providers.

The Verkehrsbund also plans to adapt the timetables with the Koralbahn, so that house guests and day trippers can easily get to their destinations.

With this new train connection, Carinthia not only becomes more mobile, but the region also gets the opportunity to become even more attractive for travelers. The joy of joy for Carinthia really seems to be anticipated.
