insights into the Carinthian traditional costume culture
A central concern of the day of folk culture is to promote customs and traditions of Carinthia. The Carinthian costumes are more than just clothing; They reflect the history and way of life of the people. They are worn not only at festivals, but also in everyday life. Materials such as linen, loden and leather for work clothes as well as silk and velvet for festive occasions reveal a lot about the various traditional shapes that have arisen over the centuries. Especially the older basic forms, such as the long, folded skirts of women or the colorful silk aprons, are important components of the historically developed community clothing.
These traditions are deeply anchored in Carinthian life customs, be it at weddings or church holidays. Thanks to the efforts of groups and people who are committed to reviving and maintaining these traditional costumes, the regional population can continue to identify with their culture and proudly present them. The traditional costume archive of the Carinthian homeland contributes to authenticity and preserving this valuable community clothing.
Look forward to a day full of music, dance and community activities, in which the focus is on the Carinthian folk culture. The day of the Carinthian folk culture and the day of costume offer both locals and visitors the opportunity to experience the beauty and diversity of this traditional culture up close.
