JVP Burgenland: Young Turks on a new mission for the youth!

The young people's party (JVP) Burgenland has presented a comprehensive realignment under the direction of state chairman Daniel Heintz. In a press conference, Heintz, who took over the office of Vanessa Ther at the beginning of March, gave exciting insights into the future plans of the organization. In the future, the JVP will bring a fresh wind to its activities through numerous on -site dates and district days to act in order to actively and contemporary.

A central measure of the realignment is the upcoming summer campaign that will travel all districts of Burgenland. The "yellow couch" comes into play as a mobile element, on which conversations with young people are supposed to take place. This couch will drive through the summer months and offers a platform to hear the concerns of young people and develop solutions. The ideas collected from these interactive conversations will lead to a claim paper that is to be decided in Donnerskirchen on October 3 on October 3 on the State Day of the JVP Burgenland. According to [meinzirk.at] (https://www.meinbezirk.at/burgenland/c-politik/junge-uerkise-praesentieren- Neustellung_a736711) it is the declared goal to represent and strengthen the interests and needs of young Austrians.

Current challenges for the youth

A look at the general situation of young people in Austria shows some challenges. According to a study by the Foresight Social Research Institute, which was carried out on behalf of Parliament, 90% of the 16- to 26-year-olds are convinced that democracy is the best form of government. But only 44% believe that the political system works well in Austria - a significant decline in 2018. This development leads to a growing distrust of politics, since only a third of the respondents indicate that they feel appropriately represented in parliament and less than a quarter sees their concerns in political decisions.

The youth spokesman criticize the inadequate representation of young interests and emphasize that topics such as migrant crises, pandemic and inflation lead to a low credibility of politics as uncertainty factors as well as broken promises and lack of measures in areas such as living and mental health. The importance of social media as an opinion-training platform is also not to be underestimated, since 59% of young people Instagram and 57% daily newspapers use as information source, as the data from [KOMMUNAL.AT] (https://kommunal.at/wie-junge-menschen-polin- new thinking) evidence

introduction to political participation

In order to be able to meet these challenges, many young people's party members rely on innovative formats of political participation. Initiatives such as the “youth parliament”, workshops or participation platforms are becoming increasingly popular. Above all, the good basis of trust in local political representatives, such as the stable 57% trust in mayors, shows that the political actors in the communities are doing well. The young mayors in particular raise the voice for better financial framework conditions and less bureaucratic hurdles to promote the integration of young people into the political landscape.

summarized the JVP Burgenland not only for a realignment, but also as a mouthpiece for the concerns of the youth to beat a bridge between politics and the young voters. With exciting actions and a clear focus on the needs of the upcoming generation, the JVP will enter the competitive political terrain more securely than ever.
