Future project for young people: Improve mobility in the St. Veit/Glan district!
Something is happening in the St. Veit/Glan district! The “WE MAKE THE FUTURE” project aims to promote the active participation of all partners in shaping the future for young people. As the WKO reports, the focus is on topics such as mobility, education and regional development. The initiative “Education needs connection!” from the Junge Wirtschaft St. Veit/Glan invites all young people to get actively involved and help shape the future. Public transport represents a major challenge, especially for students, trainees and commuters in the Althofen – St. Veit/Glan area.
Existing problems include long waiting times and irregular connections, which cause many to lose connection to their destinations. In particular, the Koralmbahn, an important infrastructure project, is coming into focus, as the regional connection must also be taken into account here. The aim is to make the mobility needs of young people visible and to show the effects of the lack of connections.
Rethink mobility
The Federal Environment Agency emphasizes that mobility is crucial for participation in social life and contributes to quality of life. But urban transport has its pitfalls: it causes air pollution, noise and land use. It is therefore essential to make transport more sustainable without restricting mobility.
A holistic approach to improving public transport connections between Althofen and St. Veit/Glan is required. Not only metropolitan areas but also rural regions should be included in infrastructure planning. Reliable connections are crucial for young people’s time, opportunities and social participation. In the long term, a modern economic and living space should be created that guarantees affordable, reliable and accessible mobility for everyone.
Demands for the future
The participation of young people in the planning processes is also essential for real change. An appeal should be made to political decision-makers so that the interests of young people are heard more clearly in transport policy. After all, mobility behavior has a direct influence on the environmental impact, and young people should be given the chance to actively contribute their needs.
The path to the future is clear: with a focus on sustainable mobility and the active involvement of young people, we want to take on the challenges and create solutions that are viable not only today, but also tomorrow. The “WE MAKE THE FUTURE” project and the ongoing initiatives are therefore just the beginning of a promising journey for the St. Veit/Glan region.
